An OpenAI gift card is redeemed into the wallet balance of your ChatGPT account, and that balance is then used for purchases on ChatGPT web. You need a ChatGPT account billed in US dollars, and you must be in the United States to redeem.
  1. Go to chatgpt.com/redeem in a web browser.
  2. Sign in to the ChatGPT account you want to add the balance to, or sign up if you do not have one yet. Check that you are in the correct account and workspace before continuing, because the value cannot be moved to another account afterwards.
  3. Enter the gift card PIN.
  4. Confirm the redemption. The full value of the card is added to that account in one go, partial amounts cannot be redeemed.
  5. Open Settings and then Billing to see the funds under Wallet balance. In a ChatGPT Business workspace, the owner finds it under Workspace settings and then Billing.

The balance can be used for ChatGPT subscriptions, upgrades, renewals, and credit purchases made on ChatGPT web. It is applied automatically at checkout, and if it does not cover the full total you pay the rest with another payment method. Any unused funds stay on your account for future eligible purchases.

The balance cannot be used for subscriptions billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. In a ChatGPT Business workspace, only the workspace owner can redeem a card, otherwise switch to your Personal workspace first.

Check your remaining balance and your redemption history at any time under Settings and then Billing on chatgpt.com, where a successful redemption appears as a Gift card transaction. The card does not expire.
