Dial #BAL (#225) from your Verizon prepaid phone for your balance, or #DATA for your data use. You can also call 888-294-6804 from any phone, or open the My Verizon app and tap Menu then Payment.

Any remaining balance on the account is lost, and you may not be able to keep your mobile number. Topping up before the expiration date is what avoids both.
